The Museum of Life and Science is located on 84 acres in Durham, North Carolina. Previously, this museum was known as the North Carolina Children’s Museum and the North Carolina Museum of Life and Science. The museum is home to many interactive exhibits that will intrigue and delight your child.
When the town was still a rural community, it was known for its tobacco industry. There were four tobacco warehouses in town, and tobacco was shipped via railroad to nearby Durham and Oxford. At one time, Creedmoor was the largest tobacco market in the area. Many local farmers also grew cotton.
Before it became a city, Creedmoor was known as Creedmore. Its first mayor was Joseph L. Peed, who also sold land to the Durham and Northern Railroad. There is also a concession stand offering boat rentals, light snacks, and beverages. The park also has public restrooms.
